Brock Mifsud
Brock loves to swing dance! She is a bit of an all rounder- she enjoys ALL styles under the swing umbrella- from Lindy hop to solo Charleston and Jazz, to Balboa and Blues. She is a regular on the social dance floor, in competitions and in performances around Sydney. She thinks its an awesome way to meet people, have fun, to be challenged and to be active. Brock loves the musicality and improvisation that is a huge part of this dance and has a great time teaching it.
Highlights of her swing dance career:
Getting to meet and learn from the late legend Frankie Manning (1914-2009) and being able to listen to some of his stories of what it was like dancing back in his day.
Practicing for and competing in the 2009 Australian Hellzapoppin Prize.
Dancing to LIVE bands (like the Unity Hall Jazz Band, and Dan Barnett, Anthony Howler, Brad Childs and their bands) around Sydney and beyond!
Attending exchanges/workshops around Australia.
Watching and participating in spur of the moment jam circles!
The many great friendships made through swing dancing.
Brock appeared on Channel 9 on the Kerri-Anne show. Check out the footage at: www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9KxffIjMYY
