Julie O'Reilly
Julie’s performing career first took flight in her suburban backyard in a superman cape leaping off the tin shed onto the family sized trampoline! Next, was the parents queen sized bed for back flip practice and then onto Gran O’Reilly’s wardrobe for the after school dress-up ‘show time’. Julie had no formal training as a youngster but had the imagination to ‘run a muck’ with anything and everything around her.
As a young adult the tides changed and Julie immersed herself into full time training, covering all areas of singing, acting and dancing. Hence her performing career has been varied and thorough; she has studied at Deakin University gaining a Bachelor of Contemporary Arts(majoring in Drama & Dance), a Graduate of the Music Theatre course at the National Theatre Drama School, has studied singing privately over the past 10 years and has been giving all her free time and heart to Swing dancing. Julie started dancing with Swing Patrol back in 2002 at The Space studios with Scott & Jade and Claudia & Dave, then quickly became a swing junkie and took classes at as many venues as possible. Julie’s main teachers during the early days were; Scott, Claudia, Emily, Leon, Carly and Dave S but there were many dancers on the social dance floor that captured Julie’s interest and influenced her styling!
Now, Julie juggles her time between performing, teaching with Swing Patrol, singing lessons, working at the National Art School and trying to fit in as many workshops and classes as possible!
