Blues dancing is the one of Sydney’s new passions. It's a slower dance that will have you moving to the music and exploring partner connection in a new exhilarating way. Julie O’Reilly is the organizer of the night and is scheduling a variety of wonderful interstate guest teachers and great local talent to stimulate and inspire Sydney dancers. The blues night is one of the best social dancing nights in town!

Swing Pit occurs on the 2nd and 4th Friday of the month; a beginner focused night for those who feel they need a bit more confidence in social dancing. All dancers from Beginners to Advanced are most welcome at both events!

Balmain Swinging Sundays **Monthly Event**

Come along and dance the night away. It's time there were more regular social dances on our calendar and so here is a pub night to enjoy monthly. The muisc will be diverse and fabulous and a little different to the "beginner friendly" music at the Swing Pit which we all enjoy so much. It's time for the scene to have some diversity in venues and approaches for social dancing and we're hoping this will be great fun.

Swing Social Dance at the Exchange **Monthly**

With the completion of our Balboa Basics course we'd like to celebrate with dancing! So come along and dance the night away, we'll play a mix of swing tunes** and a fun time is guaranteed. ** PS. Lindy hoppers welcome.

Balboa In Sydney

Danced in a closed position, Pure Balboa evolved due to conservative dance halls where space was a major issue. Halls often had strict rules which prohibited the Charleston and other exuberant dances... so a dance which required very little space was rapidly welcomed within the crowded halls. Naturally the dance evolved and started to introduce fancier variations such as spins, turns, dips, tricks, and even air steps! Today the two dances are acknowledged but are often danced as one, switching between the close style of Pure Balboa and the throw-outs, spins and other moves now known as Bal Swing.
