W elcome to all our new dancers ... dance is a fantastic way to meet new people, exercise and have fun and we are glad to be joining you on your dance journey. In this section of the Swing Patrol Website here you will find news and information particular to Newtown and diary notes of what we taught in class, so you could print out these pages and keep a diary of everything that you've learnt. Also when ever possible we will maintain a weekly video diary of what we taught that week. So if you like what you see then come along to Newtown. The notes and video diary get updated weekly so keep checking every week.

CONTINUING: Learn to Charleston #3
In our Level 1 class we will be teaching the core step of Swing Dancing known as "The Charleston".

This will be a 3 week course, starting with basics and then moving into other patterns, showing you how to combine with other basic Swing patterns.

30th September: B|X Balboa Workshop L2/3
Getting your Bal Groove on for the Experienced Balboa Dancer!
We will be running a 3 hour workshop aimed at Level 2 and Level 3 BALBOA dancers.

Level 1
L1 Class Summary
BRAND NEW COURSE - Learn to tandem Charleston
This week we starts a new 3 week course on one of the 3 three Charleston rhythms you need to learn to move to level 2 ... the 'Tandem Charleston'.
Why is is called Tandem Charleston?
Because one dancer is behind the other like the would be on a tandem bicycle. It's also called 'Back Charleston' and 'Shadow Charleston'.

What did we learn.
• The Jump Entry • The basic Tandem Footwork
• Aeroplanes (also called 'Out and In Charleston')
• Additional Styling Variations

Level 2
L2 Class Summary
LETS GET TECHNICAL!

The first part of the class is hard to summarise as we focused on technical elements of starting to dance and swing out variations.

Then we focused on the Belt move and the many variations that can happen by both the Leader and the follower.

The Moves:
• standard belt turn
• follow turn variation
• thread the needle variation
• scoop to closed variation
