Bust Out, Sugar Push and Opportunities

Balmain (Unity Hall Hotel)
01 Sep 2010

Level One:

We revised some moves we’ve learned over the last couple of weeks (Bust Out, Sugar Push) and threw in some other moves to make a short routine:

*“Grooves” x 4 (step from side to side, grooving it up!)

*Bust out x 2 (Guys leading the follows forward, then bringing them back)

*Basic on the spot (over 8 counts, guys changing the left hands back to normal hand grip)

*“Side steps”(Side step then cross that leg in front of the other one, repeat for the other side) x 2!

*Side-step + Lockstep, then unwind!

*Sugar Push (bring your follow in, then send her straight back out) x 2

*Arm of welcome (into a circle)….

Then GROOVE!!

Level Two:

The theme of this class was “opportunities”.

First was the photo opportunity, and both lead and follows using their spare arm/hand more energetically/rhythmically in swing out/basic. (Fellas, points back on counts 1&6, count 7/8 bring your arm forward to start all over again).

Second: the follow’s steal. Sink away/down on count 4 of a basic, then go UNDER the lead’s arm (turning anti-clockwise at the same time) and stay connected to the lead’s right arm. LEADers: we then put the inside turn on the top of a basic to get back into the swing of things (use the J-turn, fellas).

Third: Guy’s steal. Fellas anchor the follows on count 5 (creating some torque) and use that built-up momentum to yourself clockwise (either connected or as a free spin).

Fourth: The Princess Leia. This involves the follows stealing a basic 8-beat pass-by and using their momentum to move (swing?) their parnters around. Follows leaning in on counts 3&4 with a double handhold   (keeps your elbows down) to build up connection, then bringing your hands/arms from above your heads down over your left shoulders (bringing your in around and in front of you).

Snap! Now you got Jazz!
