Coming up on Wed 25 Aug:
- Level 1 (6:30pm): Week 1 (of 3) of Six Beat (No experience needed, start anytime)
- Level 2 (7:45pm): Week 1 (of 2) of Spice up your Charleston! (Chris and Sass can advise whether you're ready to move to level 2)
On Wed 18 Aug we learnt the following in Level 1 and Level 2:
Level 1 - Side-by-side Charleston (week 3 of 3)
- Double Knee Drive
- Drive inside knee across body on 5 & 7
- No back kick on 7
- Land back on 8
- Down on 5
- Down on 5 with weight on outside foot and inside foot forward (heel down, toe up)
- Jump and switch weight to inside foot with outside foot forward (hell down, toe up)
- Hand-to-Hand
- Lead to offer the hand on 1
- Right hand to follow's left hip on 4
- Turn 90 degrees to right (to face the follow) on 7 which should turn the follow 90 degrees to her left (to face you)
- End in face-to-face sumo squat - land split weight
- Right hand to right hand with some pressue ready to kick on 1
- Kick, hitch/pivot, kick, land
- Repeat
- Leads to lead the exit by kick forward, back, forward, back then back into side-by-side
Level 2 - Sneaky moves! (week 2 of 2)
- Swing out but don't let her go
- Useful to move around the floor
- End on closed
- Swing out with block on 5, triple follow backwards
- Can end in closed
- Can rock step away from follow on 1-2 (after triple) and then use the tension to spring her back to where you were.
- Free spin problem on end of swingout - lead wants her to free spin but she doesn't ("gate is locked")
- Leads, need to "unlock the gate" by dropping your body so your arm drops below hers so she can freespin
- Don't lower your arm if you don't want her to freespin, then use the energy to shoulder pop her out (build tension and then pop your right elbow up as if you are doing a fancy elbow blow to someone's jaw!)
