And up (with whole body and arms), and down, and up "Baguette!"
and 1 2 and 3, 4 and 5, 6 7 &8
Level 2- Special Musicality class!
First idea- To listen to the 'feel' of the song and make your movements appropriate to that feel- is it slow and groovy, smooth, jiggy, bouncy, energetic, etc..etc.
Second idea- To choose a 'dance' that fits the music well- eg. 20's charleston, 40's charleston, 8 beat, 6 beat with kick lands or 6 beat with triple steps, blues, balboa etc.
Third idea- Within the song, to listen to the phrases and do interesting things on the 'hits'.. Eg. three basic charlestons and a tap slide on the fourth 8. Or 3 basic 8 beats and a dip, or 4 6 beats with kick lands and jig walks with a big kick.. Making sure to listen to the music and try to dance to the parts in the song that invite you to!!
Thanks for giving all this a go and coming on a bit of a musical dancing journey.. It really adds a whole new layer to your dancing when you are dancing musically:-)
Next week: Charleston continues in Level 1 and in Level 2 we are going to learn some 'transitions!'.
Brock and Jono
