History of Swing
()
23 Mar 2010
Hey there swing dancers in The Shire,
How have you all been the past couple of months? Ready to get back into the swing of things?
Classes started back this week and we stepped into the history of Charleston in level one and followed on with the history of Lindy Hop in level 2.
We will revise this again for those that missed our first class back and for those in class needing to revise the material.
Level 1: Starting with the basic Charleston, we turned this into partner Charleston and then added in Tacky Annies. For a bit more pazzazz we turned our Charleston and learnt the lead for the Tacky Annies. Next we added in Hand to Hand Charleston with 6 kicks and ended back in Charleston.
Next week we will continue to explore the history of swing then get into some fun swing moves.
Level 2: We focused our first week back on Breakaway Charleston which makes dancing to fast music quite easy.
Next week will continue with Breakaway Charleston and learn some extra cool moves.
We look forward to seeing you in class Tuesday.

PS. Live Swing at Darling Harbour!
Last year we had the wonderful opportunity of dancing at Darling Harbour to join forces with live bands for Seniors Week. Charmaine and Jake had a photo shoot with Kamahl and the Kings of Swing proved to be an awesome band to dance to. This year we have been asked to swing on down to Palm Grove at Darling Harbour again.
With The Kings of Swing and George Washingmachine Quintet as the line up, we can be guaranteed some excellent live music to dance to.
We have been given 3 time brackets to join in on the fun.
Wednesday 24th of March at 12.30-3.30pm,
Saturday 27th, Sunday 28th March at 12.30-3pm.
It would be great to have a few people offering to be there for the whole time with Jake, with as many people as we can muster to join in for even 15 minutes, or any time you can offer us during your lunch break on the Wednesday especially.
E.mail Jake for any further questions at: jake@swingpatrol.com.au
