Class Diary

B-B-B-B-Balmain gives you back your B-B-Bounce!

Balmain (Unity Hall Hotel)
03 Feb 2010

Welcome back to Balmain!   It was so lovely to see everyone, thank you so much for returning for a bigger, brighter and better 2010 - and a special welcome goes out to all the new dancers who turned up at our first night.  I know that it’s a big step to take (I took a friend to my first class as I was too nervous to go alone…she gave up after 2 lessons but I was hooked and the rest is history…)  So you’ve already taken the hardest step – just turning up – it all gets easier from here on in!

It seems that apart from some mad moments of social dancing, everyone had a pretty leisurely break over the Xmas/New Year period….but I guess its February now and we can no longer pretend its still summer holidays…so let’s get cracking!

What’s up this year?

Blues Before Sunrise (Melb) 5-8 March

Jumptown Jam (Canberra) 12-14 March

Meet The Scene (Sydney) 8 May

Noni & Evan Workshops (Sydney) 8-9 May

Soul Glo (NSW) 21-23 May

London Swing Festival (UK) 28-30 May

Melb Swing Festival 11-14 June

…and that’s just the first half of the year!

Of course when we’re not gallivanting around town there is also plenty of social dancing to be had at the Unity Hall Hotel on Sundays and at Swing Pit and the Roxbury Hotel.  So don’t feel exhausted - feel inspired by all that the Sydney scene has to offer you as a dancer.  You can just come to class and enjoy the camaraderie or you can get totally absorbed in the dance, be out dancing every weekend and enjoying the friendship of all the people you will meet.

This week:

Level 1

Side x Side Charleston (footwork – rockstep, kickstep, doublekick step)

Swingout with outside turn to closed
