Summer School Aerials

Paddington (Paddington RSL)
05 Jan 2010

Here you find the details on what will be happening through January 2010 with Jake taking over for a few weeks whilst Richa and Jase have a break.

Class dates and times

      5th January, 2010
    12th January, 2010
    19th January, 2010

Level 1 7pm - Aerials. Often when we learn aerials in a class or workshop we are left to our own devices to practice them and hopefully have all the information correct. But with these summer classes we will not only be learning the 3 aerials over the 3 weeks, we will also work at making them more fluid and ironing out the messy side of each aerial on a more personal level so that you can get the most out of the aerials.

Level 2/3, 8.45pm - Dancing through aerials like they are just another step. Combining the information and breakdown from the 7pm class, we will work on these aerials, and a few of your own choosing, to add them to your dancing repetoire like they are just another move. The focus of these classes will be more on developing stronger connection with your partner for smoother entries and exits based on your personal needs, be it connection, timing, moves to do in and out of aerials, or purely just monitored practice of your aerials.

So which aerials are we teaching? Tomahawk, Lamppost and a Swingout Throwout variation.

As with any step, aerials especially, it is important to practice inbetween classes so we can focus on improving the moves. Although these are pay as you go classes, it is recommmended you come to all 3 classes to get the best benefit out of them, but if you can only make it to 2 weeks, I'm sure we can still help you become more confident with the aerials.

*NB. Organising your own aerials partner is recommended but not essential. Ask around as it's better to dance aerials with someone you trust. Please come early to each class and do some warm ups so we dont spend too much time preparing your body. Also do some push ups, sit ups and chin ups between now and then to build up your body strength in preparation for putting in your best.
